WOMB — Attacks on Reproductive Health & Maternal Care

Republican Harm:

  • Passed extreme abortion bans, even in cases of rape or danger to the mother.

  • Blocked Medicaid expansion, denying low-income mothers access to prenatal and postpartum care.

  • Undermined funding for maternal health clinics, especially in rural and marginalized communities.

  • The “Big Beautiful Bill” slashes nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid over ten years, threatening rural hospitals and maternity services. Medicaid covers 41% of births nationwide—and cutting it puts expectant mothers in East Texas at grave risk. ~The Washington Post. Houston Chronicle

My Fight:

  • Support federal protection of reproductive rights and bodily autonomy.

  • Expand maternal health initiatives, including funding rural OB/GYN access in East Texas.

  • Strengthen postpartum Medicaid coverage for at least 12 months nationwide.

Republican Harm:

  • Tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act without a plan to replace it.

  • Defend and strengthen the Affordable Care Act, with a path to universal healthcare.

  • Expand paid family leave, childcare support, and worker safety laws.

  • Restore and increase food assistance and affordable housing investments in East Texas.

  • Strengthen Collective Bargaining

  • Fight for fair contracts, ensuring workers have a real seat at the table for wages, benefits, and working conditions.

  • Oppose “right-to-work” laws that weaken unions and lower wages.

CHILDHOOD — Defunding Education & Supporting School Vouchers

Republican Harm:

  • Diverted public school funding to private school vouchers that leave behind rural and underserved students.

  • Pushed censorship and banned diverse curriculum that tells the full American story.

  • Opposed free school meals and wraparound services for poor students.

My Fight:

  • Fully fund public education, with investments in rural schools, teacher pay, and special education.

  • Oppose vouchers for tax dollars to stay in public schools.

  • Pass universal free school meals and expand mental health resources for students.

YOUNG ADULTHOOD — Crippling College Debt & Low-Wage Work

Republican Harm:

  • Blocked student debt relief and interest reform.

  • Opposed raising the federal minimum wage.

  • Rolled back labor protections for young and part-time workers.

My Fight:

  • Support student debt forgiveness and free community college.

  • Raise the minimum wage to a livable standard and protect unions.

  • Invest in Community colleges, trade schools, and apprenticeship programs.

  • Write a bill for police departments to employ a 30% ratio mental health professionals to work alongside with the police.

SENIORS — Threats to Social Security, Medicare, & Dignity in Retirement

Republican Harm:

  • Proposed cuts to Social Security and Medicare under the guise of “entitlement reform.”

  • Opposed lowering prescription drug prices.

  • Ignored the caregiving crisis affecting aging Americans and their families.

My Fight:

  • Protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare with no cuts.

  • Cap insulin and prescription drug prices for all Americans.

  • Fund home health care and caregiver support, allowing seniors to age with dignity.

Food Insecurity on the Rise:

According to TPR and KSLA ,SNAP benefits served nearly $7 billion in Texas in 2024 alone. Yet the bill forces states to absorb more costs and gets stricter with eligibility—potentially pushing 32,000 more Texans into poverty, particularly hurting children, seniors, and veterans.

Health Coverage and Hospital Closures:

By 2034, this bill could leave 12 million more Americans uninsured, including around 300,000 Texans. Rural hospitals, already stretched thin, could either scale back critically needed services or shut down entirely.  Houston Chronicle

Economic Damage to East Texas:

Our economy is at stake. Texas could lose $87 billion in GDP by 2034—plus 120,000 jobs—due to the rollback of clean energy incentives. Families may soon pay $780 more annually on energy, and $420 more in fuel. San Antonio Express-News

Voter Suppression Threatens Our Democracy:

Republican tactics—from purges to harsh ID requirements—are systematically suppressing our voice. Millions of ballots have been disqualified or never counted. One study even found that Black voters' ballots were 900% more likely to be rejected than white voters'. Reddit
