Love Thy Neighbor 7-year Community Plan

Love Thy Neighbor 7-year Community Plan by Masika Akilah Ray

The Lord gave me a vision to write seven books about the physical and “holy” spiritual in today’s world. The first novel in this series is Rebuilding our Spiritual Walls, Set Apart with a Physical and Spiritual Garden by Masika Akilah. Spiritual concerns the Fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control. The Physical is explained below.

Fellow voters, we face uncertain times, and it's crucial we take control of our local community. That's why I'm proposing the "Love Thy Neighbor" 7-year Community Plan, designed to build resilience and foster connection right here at home. This plan focuses on practical, community-driven solutions to address our evolving needs.

A cornerstone of this plan is the expansion of community gardens. We'll establish home gardens and church gardens, creating spaces for families and neighbors to come together. These gardens will be more than just places to grow food; they'll be hubs of community engagement. We'll host gardening workshops, cooking classes, and harvest festivals to share knowledge and build relationships. We'll offer regular volunteer opportunities, ensuring everyone can participate, and establish clear communication channels to keep everyone informed. By working together, we can cultivate not just food, but a stronger, more connected community.

Furthermore, we'll explore the revival of the barter system, a time-honored method of direct exchange. In times of economic uncertainty, bartering offers a powerful way to meet our needs without relying solely on traditional currency. It allows for the direct exchange of value, building community bonds through personal interaction, and offering flexibility in how we meet our needs. While there are some challenges, the benefits of fostering self-sufficiency and community support are undeniable.

In contrast, the current political climate, exemplified by Trump and his Republican allies, often prioritizes individual greed over community well-being. When writing "Rebuilding Our Spiritual Walls," I did not know what was coming, but God did. Today's Republicans rely on division and self-interest to maintain power. Now is the time to reject that approach. Let's focus on our essential needs, support our neighbors, and build a stronger, more resilient community together. The "Love Thy Neighbor" plan is about taking back control, fostering unity, and ensuring our community thrives, regardless of what the future holds. Every home can start a garden, whether in a house or an apartment. Every church can start a garden. Let us begin now, as March is approaching, after the last frost. Let's do this!
